This Abbotsford client brought his Corvette C7 into Driven Audio looking for a radar detector to match his vehicle’s performance. Since we are an authorized Escort Radar dealer, we introduced him to the Max2 radar detector. With its new Digital Signal Processor (DSP), the Max2 offers the industry’s best false alert reduction and incredible range. The Max2 also includes the ability to link with Android or iPhones to use Escort’s Live service. This allows him to receive alerts from other drivers in the area who encounter a radar or laser alert.
Having a clean installation and mount was important to the client. We showed him our BlendMount mirror mounts. These replace the typical suction cup-mount that radar detectors usually use, with a fully adjustable mount made from machined aluminum. The BlendMount clamps to the vehicle’s rear view mirror stem, behind the mirror, giving us the ability to provide a clean, hidden mount. It also lets us put the radar detector under the rear view mirror, placing it for perfect viewing.
The BlendMount is made specifically to hold the Max2 detector, resulting in a secure mount that still allows the radar detector to be removed easily as needed.
Since a clean radar installation was important to this Corvette C7 client, he did not want to use the Max2’s curly power cord, which plugs into the cigarette lighter. No problem: We used an Escort DirectWire power cable. We routed the power cable from the mirror position, behind the headliner and behind the Corvette’s A-Pillar to its fuse box, where we sourced ignition-controlled power. This allows the radar detector to turn on and off automatically with the vehicle’s ignition and without any loose power wires hanging down.
The client loved the results, and we did, too! The Max2 looks right at home below the new Corvette C7’s rearview mirror.
