One of our regular clients from here in Abbotsford, British Columbia, brought his horse trailer and pickup truck to us to add a horse trailer camera system. He wanted to be able to keep an eye on his precious cargo day and night. We talked about how frequently he was going to use the trailer and what areas of the trailer he needed to see.
The client originally had a wireless camera system that cut out often while towing and didn’t provide a very clear image. We replaced that system with a pair of wide-angle cameras with built-in IR light transmitters. The IR lights on the horse trailer camera system allow the driver to see the horses and what is going on in the trailer even when no lights are on in the trailer. The wide angle cameras show much more of the inside of the trailer, something other cameras don’t offer.
Horse Trailer Camera System Installation
We used a seven-pin trailer-style connection for the pair of cameras. The client can easily disconnect the camera system when it’s not in use. By using a common connection it is also easy for the client to get the connector replaced should it be damaged while on a trip. (Accidents do happen!) The camera plug receptacle is mounted on the side of the pickup truck box for easy access.. The 7-inch screen in the center console is easily removable. This allows them to put the screen away when parked or not towing, which is great for security.
The client returned to Driven Audio to check out the new camera system as soon as the installation was complete. He loved how clear and detailed the new horse trailer cameras were as well as having multiple views.
