A client from Abbotsford recently contacted Certified Autosound and Security in search of a way to improve the bass response in his 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. He had been referred to us by a co-worker who had work done here previously. The client had heard the performance of the premium sound system in that vehicle and wanted to replicate its performance. Our sales team put together an amazing audio system upgrade that would give the client the sound he wanted.
Factory Audio System Amplifier Upgrade
We based the project around a Match UP 7DSP seven-channel amplifier with integrated digital signal processing capabilities. The new amp powers the four door speakers in the car and gives us the ability to fine-tune the frequency response and signal delay characteristics for each location. We dedicated the factory woofer to enhancing mid-bass duties to fill the transition between the door speakers and the new system subwoofer.
The Match UP 7DSP amp provides up to 65 watts of power per channel and is extremely compact. Our installation team was able to install it and a dedicated subwoofer amplifier in the storage compartment under the false floor.
Mercedes-Benz Subwoofer Update for Great Bass
The focus of the project was to improve the low-frequency performance of the audio system. The factory woofer just doesn’t cut it in terms of output capability and low-frequency extension. Our fabrication team masked off the left rear corner of the vehicle and created a fiberglass mold of the trunk. Once cured, they installed an MDF mounting ring for a single JL Audio 10TW-3 at the front and wrapped it in cloth that extends to the edge of the enclosure. Once everything was sanded smooth, the guys wrapped the enclosure in gray carpet that matches the trunk interior and added an SGR10TW-3 grille to protect the sub.
A JL Audio RD500/1 amplifier powers the new subwoofer. This amp produces up to 500 watts of power to the sub. We added an RBC-1 remote bass control to the amp and mounted it in the center console.
Another Happy Client
The client returned to Certified Autosound and Security, eager to hear the bass upgrade we had installed in his Mercedes-Benz. The new subwoofer sounded amazing, and the client was impressed with the improvement that tuning made to the factory speakers. He left us a review, saying, “I felt like the entire team really cares about their profession and did an outstanding job upgrading my sound system to what I wanted.” If you are near Abbotsford, Chilliwack or Maple Ridge and are interested in upgrading the sound system in your vehicle, drop by one of our stores, or send us an e-mail using our contact page.
