Here at Driven Audio, our staff loves classic cars. You can’t beat the attention to detail in these older vehicles. From all of the beautiful chrome to the curvy body lines, they are a feast for the eyes. That beauty continues inside the car as well, as the interior in a classic vehicle was designed to be an equally luscious feast for the eyes. But there is often one thing lacking in one of these beauties: a great sounding classic car audio system.
Great Sounding Audio Compliments A Great Classic Car
We can all have the conversation about how great it is to drive up the road and listen to the engine, and that will be our soundtrack. Well, that works just fine for short trips, but if you are traveling any distance at all, bringing some great music along for the ride is essential. Music can brighten our day, it can take us back to our youth and it can mask the obvious road noise in these older vehicles.
Three Groups Of Classic Car Audio Clients
Driven Audio normally breaks down our classic car clients into three groups:
The Purist Group
The first group wants some modern conveniences like aux inputs, cd players and FM radio, but they want the vehicle to look original. For this group of clientele, we offer speakers that can fit back into the original locations and, if necessary, we make custom mounting adapters to fit them properly. We are an authorized retailer for Custom Autosound, and they make the largest selection of radios designed to fit in the stock dash location and look a lot like an original radio.
We can also use modern electronics to our advantage these days, so if you own a digital device that can stream music over Bluetooth, like a smartphone or iPod, we have a great solution. We can install a Bluetooth receiver in your vehicle and pair it with amplifiers and speakers, giving you a completely, 100%- hidden audio system.
The Investment Group
The second group of classic car audio clients places a higher value on the car’s audio system but doesn’t want the car cut up because that would affect the resale value. This is especially important if you have a “Collector Car” insured vehicle with special license plates. Our team of highly skilled technicians can build you a completely stealth audio system that can be removed from the car, and without lowering the value.
- We make replacement front kick panels to hold high-quality speakers, so no modifications get done in the doors. You keep your original kick panels so the new ones can be removed at any time, and your original ones go back in place, putting the vehicle back to stock.
- Your source unit (or radio, as we used to call it) can be a Custom Autosound unit that goes in the original location in the dash. We can also use a Bluetooth receiver as mentioned above, or even a Secret Audio system.
- We will often add small, compact amplifiers that we can hide in the vehicle, such as the Alpine KTP-445U, or JL Audio’s HX and XD amplifiers, giving you much greater output and clarity.
- For the ultimate in sound quality, a subwoofer is essential. Small, compact enclosures can be installed that will give your music the low-end impact the artist intended, and they can be easily removed whenever needed.
The Resto-Mod Group
The third group of classic car audio clients is the over-the-top, resto-mod crowd. They want a classic car with all the modern features. We have you covered here as well. Our fabrication department can help you design and build a car audio system that will blow away any new vehicle in technology, and give you concert-level volume along with studio-grade sound quality. And we can deliver it in an install that matches the cosmetics of the rest of your build.
Now, as we mentioned earlier, classic cars are incredible vehicles, but they surely are loud. You can take an extended trip and get a headache from all the road and engine noise. At Driven Audio, we are experts in sound control, and we can work with you to significantly reduce all of this noise. You will arrive at your destination with the same smile as when you got into your car in the morning.
We invite you to stop by Driven Audio with your vehicle. Let’s go out to it and look it over together, and then spend time getting to know each other. At that point, we will design and build you a system that will fit your unique needs.
