A client from Chilliwack contacted the team at Certified Autosound and Security about installing a custom stereo system in his 2014 Can-Am Maverick Max 1000R four-seater UTV. After having a look at the vehicle and discussing how the client listens to his music, our Product Specialists designed a custom audio system that would sound amazing. The client loved the design and gave us the go-ahead to schedule the installation
Powersports Source Unit and Amplifier
We suggested a Rockford Fosgate PMX-2 digital media receiver as a source unit for the Maverick. During our inspection of the vehicle, we confirmed that the radio would fit perfectly on the dash, just to the right of the steering column. This compact radio includes a full-color 2.7-inch display to show what song is playing and an easy-to-use rotary volume control. Built-in Bluetooth audio streaming makes it easy for the client to play the music that is stored on his smartphone while keeping the device safe, clean and dry in his pocket. We also added a Punch Universal USB and Aux input port to make it easy to charge a smartphone or connect any audio device with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Two JL Audio MX-Series amplifiers mounted under the passenger seat power the Maverick stereo system. An MX280/4 delivers up to 70 watts to each of the front and rear speakers, and an MX300/1 powers the system’s subwoofer.
Rockford Fosgate Speakers and Subwoofer
We used two sets of the Rockford Punch-Series marine wakeboard tower speaker enclosure on the Maverick to deliver clean and clear sound, even when the gas pedal is to the floor. The speaker enclosures are mounted to the vertical tubes of the roll cage so they will be solid and stable.
Our fabrication team created a custom subwoofer enclosure for a single 8-inch Punch Marine subwoofer under the driver’s seat. The enclosure bolts directly to the chassis of the vehicle, and the woofer features a weather-resistant design, so it can handle getting dusty or dirty while out on the trails.
Powersports Audio Specialists
With the amplifiers tuned to work with the chosen source unit and speakers, it was time for the client to return to Certified Autosound and Security to pick up the vehicle. He climbed in for a listen as soon as he arrived and loved everything about his new Maverick stereo system.
