My passion for audio started at a very early age. I remember sitting on the floor with my dad and listening to music for hours. When I got my first car, the first thing I did was install a stereo system. It was an old Pioneer tape deck, two 6×9 speakers and a 2×150-watt amp. From there my interest in car audio grew. I was always trying to get my car system to sound better than my dad’s home stereo system.
When I turned 19, I got a job at a car audio shop in Abbotsford as an apprentice installer. I had two great teachers there who taught me so much about car audio and installs. I ended up on the sales floor as they needed help one day, and the manager was so impressed with me that he asked me to become a salesman instead of an installer. This was a very tough choice as I really loved installing car audio systems but as it turns out, I also really enjoyed helping clients design and build their car audio systems. I worked my way up to the store manager position by providing outstanding customer service and designing systems that were far beyond the clients’ expectations. The company I worked for decided to focus more on home integration and audio, which was a great learning experience for me.
After several years with that company in many different roles, it was time to move on to something new. For the next little bit, I had an exciting opportunity to work with classic cars and custom builds. Once again, I learned so much from a great group of custom builders and came away with so much more knowledge than I had before.
That brings me to today. Working with the team at Certified is a great fit for me and my family. I get to go back to what originally caught my attention as a kid. Every day, I get to help people build and design great-sounding stereo systems, surrounded by great people who have the same family values that I have. Certified has become my work family, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish next.
